Element 5.1
Select or create appropriate assessments that will measure student achievement of goals and objectives.
Artifact: PED 434 Statistics and Assessments in P.E.
Date: Spring 2012
Reflection: In Statistics and Assessments in P.E., I was placed in a group of 4. Our job was to create a curriculum containing pre and post assessments, block plan, lesson plan, activity progressions, and assessment results. We created learning goals for each of the three domains as well as a fitness component. Our goal was to have all of the students improve from the pre-assessment to the post-assessment. This falls under element 5.1 because when creating the assessments, we had to choose which form of assessments would be appropriate for us to use in order to get trustworthy information that would be goal-specific as well as having relation to both the New York State and NASPE standards. This helps my development as a physical educator by knowing how to obtain the appropriate data to show to parents and administrators that the students are learning in my P.E. classes.
